Filipino coffee · Metuchen, New Jersey

Barako with backbone. Ube with history. A neighborhood table built around culture, community, and the radical idea that joy tastes better shared.

Not the polite kind. The kind that shows up in a room where nobody has to explain themselves — where the barako is bold on purpose, the ube is real halaya, and the menu is written in a language somebody's lola would recognise.

Ligaya Grounds is built by Tiffany Joy Argonza around Filipino ingredients and Central Jersey neighbours. The table now has a home at 16 Jersey Avenue in Metuchen — and the coffee bar still travels for weddings, offices and celebrations.

  • BarakoBold, intense beans from Batangas, Philippines — the base of the Ligaya blend.
  • Ube halayaThe native purple root, reclaimed. Real halaya, not a syrup pretending.
  • Pandan & kalamansiSoutheast Asian pantry staples, made into cold foam and refreshers.
  • Pan de salFilipino rolls, filled savoury with adobo or sweet with ube.
A connected miniature world moving from a Batangas coffee hillside through roasting and a Filipino espresso bar to a community table

From Batangas to Metuchen

  1. 01

    The hillside

Barako begins in Batangas — the bold, intense coffee that gives the Ligaya blend its unmistakable backbone.

  2. 02

    The blend

It becomes the Ligaya blend: barako-forward, cut for espresso, built to stand up to muscovado and cold foam rather than disappear under them.

  3. 03

    The bar

Ube, pandan, muscovado, ChocNut and tsokolate meet espresso at a bar designed to make heritage feel alive, not archived.

  4. 04

    The table

At 16 Jersey Avenue and wherever the bar travels, every cup ends where the idea began: people sharing a table.

Catering

Fully staffed, four hours of service, labour included, and access to the whole menu. Weddings, offices, birthdays, and the kind of party where somebody's tita will ask for the recipe.
